Kimchi and Dumpling Ramen Recipe

We’re always keen to share tasty and quick ways to enjoy your instant noodles, so we’ve teamed up with @forfoodsake_ldn on Instagram to stir up a delicious kimchi and dumpling ramen recipe.

What is Kimchi?

Kimchi is a Korean dish made from salted and fermented vegetables - typically cabbage. It is usually seasoned with garlic, chilli and ginger. The resulting combination offers a complex flavour with sour, salty, spicy, and umami notes.

Ingredients for Kimchi and Dumpling Ramen

  • 1 tbsp Sesame Oil
  • 200g Kimchi
  • 700ml Vegetable Stock
  • 3 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 125g Mushrooms
  • 1 tsp Ginger/ Garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp Miso Paste
  • 1 tsp Gochujang Paste
  • 70g (one packet) Instant Noodles
  • 7 Dumplings (Freshasia Mushroom and Bamboo Shoots Dumplings were used for this recipe)
  • 2 Pak Choi
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Spring Onion (chopped)

How to Make Kimchi and Dumpling Ramen

  1. Add sesame oil to a heated pan and add the kimchi; cook for 2-3 minutes and then add the vegetable stock and simmer.
  2. Add in the miso paste, ginger/garlic paste, soy sauce, gochujang and mushrooms and leave to simmer on medium heat for around 8-10 minutes.
  3. Add in the frozen dumplings and pak choi; leave to cook for 3 minutes.
  4. Add the instant noodles to the soup and cook for 3-4 minutes; make sure to separate the individual noodle strands.
  5. Add the soup and the noodles to your ramen bowl, then carefully place the dumplings, mushrooms and pak choi on top.
  6. Add a fried egg (optional), kimchi and some chopped spring onions to serve.
