Recipe - Stir-fried Beef and Broccoli with Oyster Sauce

When your looking for that chinese takeaway, why not try making it yourself. It's fresher, tastier and easy to make! The classic stir fried beef with oyster sauce uses prime fillet or sirloin steak marinated in the five special ingredients needed in most chinese cooking recipes.

Below is a quick and easy recipe for making stir-fried beef in oyster sauce.

Stir-fried Beef & Broccoli in Oyster Sauce Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 300g fillet or sirloin steak
  • 300g Broccoli
  • 1 Clove of Garlic
  • 1 tsp of Light Soy Sauce
  • 2 tbsp of Oyster Sauce
  • 2 tbsp of Shaoshing Rice Wine
  • 2 tsp of Sesame Oil
  • 2 tbsp of Oyster Sauce
  • 3 tbsp of Peanut Oil
  • Salt
  • Sugar

Method:

  • Slice the beef into thin bite size pieces
  • Mix the beef with soy sauce, sesame oil and 1 tbsp of Shaoshing rice wine and leave to marinate
  • Cut the broccoli into bite size pieces and boil in a saucepan of water until tender (not too soft but with a crunch). Drain Water.
  • Heat up the peanut oil in a wok or pan until slightly smoking. Add chopped up garlic and fry for 10 seconds, add the beef and stir fry until brown.
  • Add the broccoli and stir fry for another 2 minutes.
  • Add the oyster sauce, 1 tbsp of shaoshing rice wine, a pinch of salt and pinch of sugar to balance the taste.
  • Stir fry for another 2 minutes and serve
